AMH is a hormone produced by the granulosa cells of ovarian follicles.
The test provides an estimate of a woman’s ovarian reserve (the number of eggs remaining).
AMH levels do not fluctuate significantly during the menstrual cycle, making the test reliable at any time.
Clinical uses include:
Assessing fertility potential in women.
Predicting response to assisted reproductive techniques (like IVF).
Evaluating ovarian function after surgery, chemotherapy, or aging.
Supporting diagnosis of conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or premature ovarian failure.
In men, AMH can be used to evaluate testicular function in certain cases.
