Clotting Time is a basic test that assesses the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade.
It is performed by collecting blood in a glass tube and measuring the time taken for clot formation.
Clinical uses include:
Detecting clotting factor deficiencies (e.g., hemophilia).
Investigating unexplained bleeding or bruising.
Supporting diagnosis of liver disease or monitoring anticoagulant therapy.
Though less commonly used today (replaced by more advanced tests like PT and APTT), CT still provides preliminary information about blood clotting ability.
