High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) Test Overview

C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a marker of inflammation produced by the liver.

The high sensitivity version (hs-CRP) can detect much lower levels than standard CRP tests.

Clinical uses include:

Assessing risk of heart disease and stroke.

Detecting low-grade inflammation linked to atherosclerosis.

Supporting evaluation of chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome.

hs-CRP is not diagnostic on its own but provides risk stratification when combined with other tests and clinical findings.

The test is performed using a blood samp

Analyte: High sensitivity C-reactive protein in blood serum.

Normal Range / Risk Categories:

< 1 mg/L: Low risk of cardiovascular disease.

1–3 mg/L: Moderate risk.

> 3 mg/L: High risk.

Clinical Use:

Detects subtle inflammation not picked up by standard CRP tests.

Helps predict cardiovascular risk.

Monitors chronic inflammatory conditions.
