Post‑prandial means “after a meal.”
Normally, urine does not contain glucose because the kidneys reabsorb it completely.
When blood glucose rises significantly after eating, excess glucose may spill into urine (glycosuria).
Clinical uses include:
Screening for diabetes mellitus.
Monitoring glycemic control in known diabetics.
Detecting renal threshold abnormalities.
Less sensitive than blood glucose tests, but still useful in resource‑limited settings.
